The Name

What Does "Berempah" Mean?

Berempah means spiced: cooked with rempah, the pounded spice paste behind so much Malay cooking.

Ours has sixteen spices, turmeric, cumin and coriander among them, and every cut of chicken sits in it overnight before it's fried to order.

Our Story

From One Plate
Of Nasi Lemak

Berempah Bros started from our love for the food we grew up eating. The flavours of Singapore and Southeast Asia are loud, diverse and unapologetic: sambal, coconut, spices, smoke, char and plenty of rempah. We wanted to build something around that.

Our starting point was the humble plate of nasi lemak. We took everything we loved about it and made it our own: fragrant coconut rice, punchy sambal, refreshing achar and, at the centre of it all, our signature Ayam Berempah.

What began with one plate has grown into different proteins, grilled dishes, new creations and Berempah Bros outlets across Singapore. But the idea hasn't changed.

Take familiar flavours. Put our spin on them. And make food we'd happily eat ourselves.

Our Philosophy

How We Cook

Nasi lemak, our way

The base is the plate we grew up on: coconut rice, sambal belachan and achar. The chicken on top, and the crunch on the chicken, are ours.

More of the good stuff

More aromatics, more rempah, proper char and crispy bits in every corner. If there's a way to make something tastier, we usually take it.

Hawker centre, not white tablecloth

Derek won MasterChef Singapore and then opened at Beauty World Food Centre. Same care with ingredients and technique, at a hawker counter, for food you'll want again next week.
